St. Mary’s-by-the-sea
St. Mary’s-by-the-Sea is the heart of Black Rock. The waterfront park provides picturesque views of Long Island Sound, Ash Creek, and the coast of Fairfield. Locals flock to St. Mary’s for their daily exercise and to relax while enjoying a cool sea breeze. The two historical lighthouses when framed by the rising or setting sun are literally picture perfect. St. Mary’s is also the ideal vantage point to take in the 4th of July fireworks of both Bridgeport and Fairfield.
Fairfield Avenue
Instagram is packed with photos of delicious food and drinks. So it is natural that pics from the amazing bars and restaurants on The Ave would be so popular on #blackrockct. The success of spots like Fire Engine Pizza, Hub & Spoke, and Walrus & Carpenter is attracting even more restaurants to the strip. The growing diversity of dining establishments offer options for every taste and occasion. Black Rock is undoubtedly a mecca for foodies from throughout Fairfield County.
Captain’s Cove
The Cove is a celebration of the nautical heritage of Black Rock. The marina serves as the starting point for a day of fun and sun out on Long Island Sound. Landlubbers can enjoy a waterfront lunch, then stroll along the boardwalk looking for unique finds at one of the many shops. The second floor bar and patio provide commanding views of the harbor while having a cold drink with friends. Captain’s Cove has an impressive entertainment calendar throughout the summer that draws visitors from far and wide.
Seabright Beach
Seabright Beach provides a quiet space for relaxing in Black Rock. The beach is located at the southern end of Seabright Avenue next to the S.S. Norden Club. Sunbathers will find a great place to catch some rays, without some of the crowds of other area beaches. While kayakers will enjoy the calm waters to set out for some time on the water. The wonderful views also serve as a backdrop to watch boats come in and out of Black Rock Harbor from Long Island Sound.
Black Rock Day
Alright, so Black Rock Day is not a place. But it is the most Instagrammable day of the year. Friends and neighbors will be celebrating the community all day, and the cameras will be out in force. The photo ops will begin with The Run For The Rock at 9:00AM, and into the Bed Races. Revelers can then follow the parade down to Ellsworth Field for festival, featuring live music and food from Black Rock’s amazing restaurants. You may opt to keep any pics from the countless house parties to follow private though.
